Really, a Blog?
Yes dear friend, a blog. Buckle up, its going to be a fun ride.
Hello All,
My name is Logan Kistler. Some of you may know me as Detective Coffee from my short lived days on twitch. If you do not know me from that time in my life allow me to introduce myself. I am a former Police Officer who served the great citizens of Upstate South Carolina for five years. Those were years that I both cherish and wish I could rip from my memory. I made both good and bad decisions, as well as bringing relief for some people and captivity for others.
I left that line of work to pursue my family. I moved closer to my immediate family and sought to rebuild some of the damage that profession and my actions/decisions during that period caused in my life. I took a job with a grocery store, less than glamorous or noble. Just a job. So now here I am, living in the town in which I grew up and working a job that pays the bills but about which stories cannot be told for fear of boring the poor listener to tears.
I have always had a fascination and obsession with stories. It used to be a great passion of mine to write and tell stories. I have always help that language when wielded well feeds the mind and soul when spoken, read, or written. Now that I find myself with less stories produced from my experiences I find I need to produce them for myself.
While streaming on twitch I discovered a love for the game Dungeons and Dragons by Wizards of the Coast. This is a game of ever shifting stories, the adventure writer may have one idea for the direction of the narrative but when placed in the hands of Dungeon Masters and Players that story will inevitably shift into something unique.
So here it is a blog. A blog about a game that I love and my experiences writing stories for it and running games for daring players. This blog will also contain philosophical musing about various topics related to storytelling in general as well as plot outlines for the adventures I write.
Allow my thoughts and stories to encourage you to enter into your own imagination and see what worlds may be discovered there. At the very least let this encourage you to go down to your local game store and ask about playing Dungeons and Dragons. I also encourage you to engage with me in the comments. I do not intend for this to be a collection of vain ramblings, I wish for this to be a discussion and on going conversation between minds and yours is most welcome.
-Logan (Draconic Coffee)
Disclaimer: Everything written in this blog will be INSANELY nerdy. I am not responsible if a dragon descends upon you and consumes your crops or if a mage transports you into a demiplane and torments you for all eternity.
